Support for the student socialisation programme “Let’s reduce the craving for unfortunate events through purposeful leisure during the breaks and after school”

The purpose of the project is to collect money to buy items for students’ leisure, active and creative activities during their breaks and after school in order to:

• promote student creativity and self-expression by providing opportunities for them during their breaks and after school;

• develop a basis for assistance, mutual understanding, community and volunteering;

• provide conditions for children and young people to learn and realise themselves within events or other extracurricular activities they enjoy;

• intensify the students’ activities as well as those of students from risk groups and socially supported families and use their internal resources;

• develop students’ social and psychological skills by cooperating with the representatives of other city schools and non-governmental organisations, visiting babies in the Klaipėda city orphanage, the elderly in the Klaipėda city retirement home, cooperating with the Klaipėda city Caritas community, the Klaipėda city Spiritual Guidance Centre for Youth, the Ethnic Culture Center at the Klaipėda City Municipality, and the Klaipėda city Zoological Garden.

The applicant of the programme is the Klaipėda city “Varpas” gymnasium.

The purpose of this programme is to develop students’ social skills through creativity, including meaningful and purposeful leisure for students and young people by searching for new work forms that would promote interesting and meaningful extracurricular activities. Another purpose is to endeavour to solve the problems of smoking, abuse and estrangement among students, develop responsibility for those around you, and promote students’ understanding that our society can be and is the same like we are.

It is expected that this project will reduce the number of students who smoke and will provide places where they can be themselves (listen to music, play tabletop games, read magazines, watch movies, discuss homework that they have not prepared yet or that is hard to prepare, exchange mutual experiences, chat, etc. while resting on bean bag chairs) as well as to attract more students to these types of activities.

The support for this project is focused on the purchase of things for student leisure (tabletop games, items for creating amateur films, office supplies, etc.) and on equipment for a new leisure space (bean bag chairs, table football, billboards, equipment for the development of fine motor skill for students with disabilities, etc.), including transport expenses for visiting social institutions.

We invite you to join us in supporting the schools and the student socialisation programme!
